Apple iPad 2 will include SD and have April Release Date - Gadgets and gizmos

The last week has been an absolute whirlwind of rumours surrounding the Apple iPad 2, different sources have suggested that it will include a retina display, will lose the home button, gain dual cameras with HD ability and now the strange looking hole on the rear of recent mock ups is said to be an internal SD card slot.

This time the information comes from Engadget, a source known for their reliability. They say that the iPad 2, known for its sleek lines and unobstructed rear end, will come with a SD slot on the back. Exactly like the rumours have been predicting for months, this will mean an opening of about 1 inch on the back of the iPad 2.

The inclusion of the SD slot will make transferring files such as photos, videos and other files a much quicker task. It will also allow owners to quickly upgrade their storage space in a cheap and convenient way.

The rumours surrounding the release date remain constant with a press conference to reveal the iPad 2 on February 1st. The release date is expected in April, which will be music to Apple fans ears after today’s new that Steve Jobs is to take a break from running the company.

Do you think the addition of an SD slot is a good or bad thing?
