Fotonauts Inc., the creator of Fotopedia.com, the first collaborative photo encyclopedia, and publisher of Apple Hall of Fame app Fotopedia Heritage, today announced Fotopedia National Parks, the company’s first PRO application.
For the first time on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, an extraordinary collection of 3,000 stunning images, created by renowned photographer Quang-Tuan Luong, allows users to let their fingers do the hiking and explore each of the 58 US National Parks, including Yosemite, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and Glacier National Park.
Keeping the photograph front-and-center, while including all of the popular Fotopedia features, this is an app for all ages and is destined to be a favorite family-friendly digital gift this holiday season.
A Tribute to America’s Best Idea
This image collection is the result of a 10-year project by Quang-Tuan Luong, who traveled over 100,000 miles, by car, aircraft of all sizes, ferry, motor boat, kayak, even venturing underwater, and climbing to the summit of Mount McKinley. In 2009, Quang-Tuan Luong was featured in the PBS documentary film “The National Parks: America's Best Idea”.
“When professional photography meets the iPad, the result is stunning,” said Jean-Marie Hullot, founder and CEO of Fotonauts Inc. “I am very pleased to present the remarkable work of Quang-Tuan Luong on this extraordinary device.”
“The National Parks of the United States of America represent an extraordinary variety of pristine natural environments. These are our treasured lands,” said Quang-Tuan Luong. “This app does a great job of showcasing the depth of my work, in ways that were not previously possible.”
Quang-Tuan Luong is the first person to photograph all 58 US National Parks with a large format camera (5x7 inches). This technique uses film with a surface area 25 times larger than regular 24x36 mm film and produces extremely detailed photos, allowing the viewer to feel a part of the landscape.
